Here are some brief snippets from this episode:

[00:00:50]
Jeff Felten is an email marketing strategist and copywriter who helps service-based businesses hustle less for leads and build armies of loyal fans. How do you use email marketing to get in front of your ideal client and to have them actually pay attention, open your email, engage, click, and even buy? Today's episode focuses exclusively on how to do that.

[00:03:08]
In 2019, I spent a good seven or eight years in the countries coffee industry. I really enjoyed the marketing aspect of this a lot. That led me into kind of this general, I do marketing kind of world. It's gone from marketing to copywriting to email marketing to specifically welcome sequences.

[00:05:04]
What is different about email marketing between product and service-based businesses at the core? My philosophy with service-based brands is to really focus on the relationship. Email is a great way to build trust and quiet the sales processes.

[00:09:47]
When you're not focused on the money, when you actually focus on earning trust, establishing credibility, just providing value, starting conversations, and being helpful, that's how you grow a loyal tribe of fans. How do you get people to engage with your emails? Ask good questions and make it easy.

[00:12:51]
A lot of people, especially in the email marketing world, look at open rates as vanity metrics. The standard is probably more like 40% to 50%. Click rates are 5% is just phenomenal. But it also depends on the industry.

[00:16:10]
Don't measure yourself against 100% like it's a grade. Use these metrics as feedback, but not as scores. A good subject line piques curiosity and lets people know what's coming. We should act more like ourselves in email marketing and less like marketers.

[00:20:26]
The goal with sales emails is not necessarily, again about sales tactics, but positioning the offer so that it's a logical no-brainer. That's, in my opinion, the best way to sell ethically, to sell from a relational standpoint.

[00:23:19]
Trust is just such a crucial factor in that if you don't take the time to build trust. A big reason that your emails may not be selling is that people don't quite trust you yet. Most of those touchpoints need to be around building trust.

[00:24:22]
The perspective of email marketing as a tool to build relationships and start conversations is alive and well. We're seeing a shift away from corporate jargony marketing to very human-centered, human relationship-driven content. The most human brands will win in the marketplace.

[00:27:34]
You have to know who your ideal client is. Use social media to lead people to your email list. Create a pipeline for clients and create a customer journey.
